Lucien Pellat-Finet Shinsaibashi By Kengo Kuma

Kengo Kuma achieves an interior as soft and warm as Lucien Pellat-Finet’s cashmere apparel, in Osaka, Japan.

Using nothing more than structural plywood in two widths and three types of aluminium connectors, Kengo Kuma builds shelves that envelope the interior of the Lucien Pellat-Finet Osaka store in an organic manner.

What Kuma calls a ‘vegetable wall’ grows like a liana from the basement café to the first- and second-floor boutique levels, finally reaching the library on the top floor. ‘The ‘honeycomb-like interior features pentagons and parallelograms that also function as practical fittings for displaying the products for sale,’ he explains.

More information and photos of this project will be featured in the September/October issue of Frame.
